Shrimp
Fresh white shrimp are being caught from Georgia to southern North Carolina now. In addition, the Pamlico Sound spring shrimp season has started early by two or three weeks. Sizes are ranging from 26/30 count to 36/40 count. Availability should be good for the next 3-4 weeks.
Crabmeat
Fresh hand picked North Carolina crab meat will now be available until December. Jumbo lump, Lump, Backfin, and Claw
are the grades of choice for local restaurants and supermarkets.
Fresh fish
Mahi, spanish mackarel, grey tilefish, and bluefish are the main species being caught off the Outer Banks for the past two or three weeks. It remains to be seen what impact Tropical Storm Alberto will have on the catch for the coming week.
