Shrimp
Fresh white shrimp are being caught from Georgia to southern
North Carolina now. In addition, the Pamlico Sound spring
shrimp season has started early by two or three weeks. Sizes
are ranging from 26/30 count to 36/40 count. Availability
should be good for the next 3-4 weeks. Crabmeat
Fresh hand picked North Carolina crab meat will now be
available until December. Jumbo lump, Lump, Backfin, and
Claw
are the grades of choice for local restaurants and
supermarkets.
Fresh
fish
Mahi, spanish mackarel, grey tilefish, and bluefish are the
main species being caught off the Outer Banks for the past two
or three weeks. It remains to be seen what impact Tropical
Storm Alberto will have on the catch for the coming week.
